Report: Rycroft is one of the tougher players for me to evaluate…On one hand, he gave the Avs pretty much what they expected…On the other hand, he just doesn’t bring a ton to the table…Is very energetic, and loves to hit…His 81 hits is 2nd among forwards, just two less than Laperriere (in 15 less games)…Also willing to take a hit, which opponents obliged him on quite often…Had 3 fights on the season, and that was 2nd most on the team…My favorite Rycroft moment: It’s the first game after the deadline as well as Scott Parker’s debut. The Avs are in
Fast Fact: Rycroft is the only undrafted player to dress for the Avalanche this past season.

Outlook: Rycroft, a former

I feel the same way about Rycroft. With just under 8 minutes of even strength play per game his hit numbers were impressive. The most physically aggressive player on the Avalanche who wasn’t in a whole lot of penalty trouble. Still, very one deminsional and no scoring touch to speak of.
Rycroft did fill his limited role fairly well, but his role is just so limited that many other players could easily fit the bill. I highly doubt the Avalanche sign him to a new contract, and if they do, he won’t make a lot of money.
