I can't be bothered to try to fix the URL, but I can sure take the time to add an ad!

(seriously, I've started looking around for an updated theme that can handle stuff like that a bit better)

DD,

Dan managed to break your code. His longer URL pushed the whole side bar down the screen.

I now expect you to expend 10 hours solving this rare issue to fix this minor, personal inconvienence that otherwise could be easily ignored.

Hey Doc,

Was that Arnason-hating soapbox league approved? I might be interested in buying one, but only if it's got that snazzy new RBK logo on it and everything.

"If Smith is gone, does that mean Hensick might get an extended stay?"

I personally don't think so, barring additional injuries. Once Lappy, Svatos and Sakic come back, there isn't going to be enough ice time for Hensick.

You could also mention Chris Drury, Brad Stuart and old friend Brett McLean (1.75 million for 2 points). Dustin Penner has started out slowly. The Islanders seem to love what Bill Guerin is doing in their clubhouse, but his on-ice play (on pace for a whopping 37 points) certainly isn't all that stellar. You could even throw Ryan Smyth into that mix, although he too has played better lately.

No disagreement that Hannan hasn't been what we thought we were getting. I'm totally cool with sever disappointment. Well. not cool with it, but you get the idea.

If Smith is gone, does that mean Hensick might get an extended stay? Other than some half way decent play on the penalty kill Smith had been the biggest question on this team this year. Biggest question as in how the hell did he make the team?

Hannan is the second question on the team. Hopefully we get another healthy defense man back soon and Hannan gets some time in the press box. The second goal last night was a direct result of him not being able to track down the puck and keep it from getting to Thorton. (maybe he thinks Thorton is still on his team?)

Hlinka on the 4th line? I, as many, question if Q has been smoking something funny over the past few weeks because it doesn't seem to matter what Hlinka does he ends up in Q's dog house (ala score the only goal in Dallas and gets scratched for two games). The line of Hlinka - Stastny - Hejduk has been good every time they've been together.

The goalie-go-round continues, but it looks like maybe the rider will get two rides before having to get off....again what is Q smoking? Somebody get him something better!

Souray's been hurt, and I'd argue Gomez (even though I'm no fan). And the fact that Hannan's in a conversation with only 2 other free agents shows how bad he's been.

I agree with you guys, +/- is pretty bad (see Skoula, Martin in his Avs' career). I was just trying to use stats to make a point that actually comes from watching him with my own eyes, as well as the growing disgust I feel for a guy who, for no apparent reason, has decided to play like crap this season for the first time in his career, and he's doing it with my favorite team.

DD, your point is well made, and I know that, rationally, it's pretty difficult to call anyone a bust after just 25 games. But I'm not always so rational about the Avs in general, and about guys who underperfom in particular. How about if I upgrade him to "severe disappointment," instead?

Hope you guys are right, hope he's playing better.

+/- is a pretty bad stat, it's not very indicative of how people play. And a bigger FA bust has been: Souray, and Gomez.

well, I'm not a big fan of +/- as a stat. It's useful, but doesn't tell the whole stroy. Yes, Hannan has struggled. I just think it's too early to call him (or anyone) a bust 25 games into the season.
