Thanks to DirecTV, I missed tonight’s game. I came home from work to find the idiots award winning customer service people had changed the channel the game was on, so I recorded 2 1/2 hours of nothing. I tuned in just in time to see the Avs skating off the ice with their first win. So, no recap tomorrow. If that doesn’t make you happy, blame DirecTV.
I do have the game report up, though. Looks like I missed fun one. We’re currently on pace to crack the 300-goal barrier (for AND against).

That really sucks David.
You’ll be happy to know that according to the Rocky Mountain News, Raycroft carried the team to victory. In truth Raycroft didn’t need to do anything as the defense finally showed up last night and he was never tested.
The hit totals on the report are off for some reason as they don’t match the NHL report.
thanks - looks like I managed to reverse hits and blocked shots.
Raycroft was shaky all night and I cringed every time he went behind the net to play the puck. The win belongs to the team as a whole for their defensive effort. The Flyers were forced to take shots from the outside because every time they went in front of the net they were knocked down, faced up, and if the puck did make it in the crease area it was removed fairly quickly.
PP Sakic was not on the point….though at time Wolski was.
That’s really odd about the DirecTV, as I had mine pre-programmed since Tuesday morning, and it didn’t get changed.
As for the goaltending, I found Raycroft was not as great as the RMN portrays him, but hardly as poor or shaky as a lot of people seem to be claiming he was. I’d say he performed about as well as Budaj has, if you discount the goal that Budaj batted out of the air in Calgary and the under the pad wrap-around he allowed to Penner in Edmonton.
it happens to me every once in a while - the game will be listed on one channel in the guide when I set up the recording and then they move it (or, in this case, they dropped one of the feeds). I guess I should get in the habit of checking the website for any changes, but it’s a stupid system that makes me have to do that.
I didn’t see the game and I don’t want to take away from Razor, but it sure sounds like the Avs would have won that game with either guy in net. I’m really surprised to see Granato pull a Quenneville so early.
Do you have the DirecTV DVR? HR20 or HR21? You can set a keyword search to automatically record. The only downside is that you want to extend your recordings for OT/SO and in the Denver market you have to constantly clean out the episodes of The Avalanche Experience that they rerun 10 times a week. One can only take so much Kyle Keefe you know.
Just as an aside. Granato’s start of Raycroft could turn out to be a good move for him all around. Dallas is coming off an embarrasing 6-1 beat down where Turco got pulled. The Starts are 1-3 like the Avs and they are playing at home. Dallas isn’t going to come out like Philly, they will certainly be putting some shots on net. Raycroft either does poorly and Granato can let Budaj have his bounce-back game against the Kings (which should give him a better chance at victory) or Raycroft does well and Granato can ride him. It’s still going to be hard for Granato to pull goaltenders after a single loss like Q. If Raycroft does go off and has a great run, then the Avs have some tough decisions to make with Budaj.
