Somewhere, the guys at jibblescribbits are smiling. Jose Theodore will be out of action for a few weeks after having minor knee surgery. He’s expected to miss “some” of training camp, which is often team talk for “most” of training camp. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if, after all the talk of buying out Theodore’s contract, he ends up not being able to even serve as an overpaid backup at the start of the season?

Second, was there anything more predictable. I envision some Lake Eerie “rehab” assignments, another knee tweak and “surgery”. And by “Surgery” I mean “sit in the luxury box and limp for 2 weeks in public so we can have an excuse not to dress you.”
Don’t forget, I’m the guy who argued that keeping Theo for this season, was the best move the Avs could make…

I don’t see how JoeTed being injured is at all a good thing for the Avs. The Avs do not have anyone else in Erie who is capable of being a backup in the NHL, and if they signed someone, then when JoeTed comes back, they would have to send that goalie to the AHL, which would send either Wall or Weiman to the CHL, and they don’t deserve that.

And cut me some slack for posting the pinkguins and such… August sucked for Hockey news, and I had to find something.
I agree with Thomas.. as Much as I think Theo is a stifff, the fact is the Avs have no one who can warm the bench quite like him as a goalie. The youngins atren’t ready to send in, so we are stuck with Theo as the backup all season. And if Budaj gets hurt, god help us.
