As you may be aware, I am not a fan of the Avs’ new Reebok jerseys. And
by not a fan, I mean: I hate them. I think the switch from the classic mountain jerseys to the ugly new uniprons drops the Avalanche from one of the best dressed teams in the NHL to one of the worst.
I certainly won’t be buying one of the new monstrosities, but I did have some hope. NHL teams will be reintroducing 3rd jerseys next year. Or, I should say, many NHL teams. Only about 2/3 of the clubs are rumored to be taking part in this latest money grab promotion. What a great opportunity for the Avs - they could bring back the old 3rd jersey I love so much, or even come up with a new design that doesn’t completely suck. Unfortunately, there’s a list floating around about the rumored new alternates, and the Avs aren’t on it. While that could just mean that the Avs have kept news of a 3rd jersey under wraps, my suspicion is that we’re doomed (DOOMED!) to another season of having our favorite team dressed like color-blind clowns.
I still think the aways are pretty decent looking, and there’s many worse jerseys in the league than even our homes. You guys are such fashion drama queens.
I’d LOVE the old 3rds to come back though, the old school look was always my fav.
I do prefer the away jersey to the home jersey, but that’s not saying much.

Aren’t all clowns color-blind? Seriously, have you ever seen a clown in full regalia and said, “That guy has it together from a fashion standpoint.”?
Good Lord, simplicity is always the answer (hence, the strong support for the old burgundy third jersey). The vertical curtain stripes make this jersey look like someone is arriving late to an NHL dinner party with nothing to wear but remnants of a wardrobe from an era we’d like to forget. All a jersey redesign is good for is sales of team paraphernalia. Bah.
I too am a big fan of the third jersey, and it’s the one I still wear the most (also being that my Sakic jersey is the third one). There is just something about the simplicity that makes it the most attractive.
My fear of doing/redoing the third jersey is that they’ll screw up the third jersey just like they did the first two.
I’m SO GLAD the Avs are still wearing these uniforms, and I’m REALLY EXCITED that they weren’t scrapped after the first season. Man, I just can’t express HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM. I hope it’s obvious that some of what I’m saying might be A LITTLE SARCASTIC.
I’ve never been a fan of any Avs sweater, but the old ones were slightly better. A third jersey would have been nice, but I’m much more worried about this team’s on ice performance than their look for next year.
You’re absolutely right, the new Avs jerseys are among the most hideous uniforms in all of sports. I loved the jerseys that they wore in 96, the shade of the blue was different and they had a little bit of luster to them. Ah the good old days.
I totally agree. I dont like the new rbk jerseys. the white one is so bland and the dark one is as well. why couldnt they put the stripes and design on the new edge jerseys? i hope they get another one soon theses arent pleaseing to the eyes. GO AVS!
