Well, that was fun wall it lasted. The Super Secret plan to bring goaltender Ryan Miller to Denver next summer to hang with his buddy John-Michael Liles and to, you know, be a kick-ass goalie for us has been foiled. The Sabres have locked up Miller through the 2013-2014 season.
With Miller out of the way, that seems to make Nikolai Khabibulin as the biggest goalie name on the UFA market next summer. Other notables: Nik Backstrom, Manny Fernandez, Fredrik Norrena, Mathieu Garon, Martin Gerber, Martin Biron and Manny Legace. I’m sure some of these guys will be extended by then, but as of now it does seem like the Avs will have more options next summer than they did this year.

too bad. it would have been nice to have a really good option out there if budaj doesn’t work out.
welp, Budaj or bust it is!
Isn’t Letonen only on the hook for this season with Hotlanta too?
he’s an RFA after this season, and I highly doubt that the Avs will go after him.
he’s going to arbitration this year, correct? for some reason I remember seeing that he was expected to receive a one year contract which would result in him being a UFA after.
I may be hallucinating though.
eligible, but didn’t file. he signed a 1-year deal last Wednesday.
