In yet another deal the Avalanche probably won’t ever announce, the Avs have dealt defenseman Johnny Boychuk to Boston for forward Matt Hendricks. I’m not familiar with Hendricks, but just looking at his numbers this doesn’t seem like a great return. His stats remind me a bit of another former Providence Bruin: Ben Guite. Nothing wrong with that, except that we already have a Ben Guite. I was pleased with the Richardson deal, but I’m not very fond of this one.

Boychuck was never gonna be the d-man they wanted him to be
I actually think the trade is fine. Boychuk’s develpment has stalled and other defensive prospects have leap frogged him. I’m more convinced now that the Avs will sign Williams and/or Montgomery.
Hendricks is for Lake Erie and will be a good fill in for Healey should he not return.
I watched Hendricks play at St.Cloud. It’s nice to have another Husky in the organization with Arnie and Finger. Now we just need former Hobey Baker finalist and Stanley Cup champion Mark Hartigan.
To say Boychuk had stalled was an understatement. I’m relieved we don’t have to wait on his unrealized potential any more. FG seems to be taking care of Lake Erie first and the Avalanche second so far.
Dave’s a mess!
