Detroit was 1st in the league, Pittsburgh was last in the regular season and playoffs (so far). Those two are about to meet in the finals so what does that tell you. However, winning faceoffs means puck possession and it's hard to score when you don't have the puck so it's still a valuable stat to look at as long as you take everything into perspective. So does that make face-off win percentage a worthless statistic?
