It’s over! Colorado is the first Western Conference team to advance to the second round.
It was a tight game again, with the Avs winning 2-1 (in 14 games between the clubs, it was the first time the winning team had less than 3 goals). Before the series started, I said that the Avs might get some shorthanded chances, and maybe they’d score a key goal on the PK. That finally came true tonight, with Ben Guite netting a shortie in the first.
Another big game for Jose Theodore and probably the best game of the playoffs for Joe Sakic (who seemed to be everywhere tonight). And hats off to Adam Foote who kicked some major ass against Marion Gaborik all series long. Man, that was a clinic he put on out there.
Recap tomorrow.

Thank You, Thank you.
I am so sick of the Wild and these 3-2 games.
Guite has had some shorthanded chances all series and finally got paid for his work.
Kudos to Joe “burden to the team” Sakic on his 100th playoff assist, he is now tied with Bryan Trottier (184) for ninth place all-time in playoff scoring.
I already said this in MHH, but I feel like posting it all over the intrawebs, lol:
In the last 5 minutes of this game, the Pepsi center was louder than the Xcel Energy center ever got. At least that’s what it seemed like. Of course, it was pretty damn quiet the 1st two periods, I was embarassed to see Avs fans that quiet and I was yelling at the TV to try to make them yell too lol. However, the third period was the loudest in years and no one sat down and everyone was cheering for the last 5 minutes of that game and that was just awesome, I haven’t seened the Can that loud in a really, reeeeally long time. Sweet, just sweet.

Another great team effort. The best news is that Stastny is looking more confident every game - and Foppa is looking faster. In the 3rd period he was looking flat out scary. Arnason also appears to have turned a corner since his pathetic game 3.
yes, Stastny looked like Stastny last night. No points, but he seems close.
Arny returned to his bad form in face offs last night, 3-6. But we won so I guess we can forgive him.
It is obvious that Foote, Salei and Foppa have made an impact on this team. Footer beat Gabby up one side and down the other all series long and held him to 1pt and a -3.
Forsberg was electrifying in that third. That move he made on net with the puck. Every one thought he had beat Backstrom…even the spot light came on as the official waved it off.
Theo was good when he had to be, but the D-made his job a little easier last night than it did in game #5. Still, I give him a lot of credit for the way he been performing.
Keep it up guys.
