What follows is the best news I’ve heard today, Martin Skoula notwithstanding:
Mike Haynes’ surgery yesterday was a success. It was a long one, apparently, but the aneurysm was caught early and Mike should make a good recovery, according to the doctors. So, that’s great news.
Great news, indeed. My “Get well, Mike Haynes” post from earlier in the week got twice as many hits as yesterday’s recap did, which tells me there are a ton of people out there pulling for Mike and his family.

EXCELLENT!
Rest up Mike
Thank You Thank You Thank You!

Dear Mike,
Your coverage of the Avs has given me some of the best times of my life! I’m up here in Montana, now, but we still get the Avs on cable. I about had a cow when I heard something had happened to you. I finally found out what here on the internet & am so glad to hear your surgery was positive. Get well soon! an old fan - mjb
I had the privelidge of working with Mike at The Fan during the Grizzlies Turner Cup season and the first 3 seasons of the Avalanche (2 Stanley Cup seasons). This is GREAT news. Mike is one of the class A people I have met throughout my life along the way and is not only one of the best announcers in the business but a fantastic person. Take it slow, rest up, and I fully expect to hear those great calls in 2009! Much love, Mike…. Pete
