Was Adam Foote the best defensive defenseman in the NHL this year?

You deciede. I still think he and Theo are the most important pieces of the puzzle against the Wild. Mainly because Roloson and Gaborik seem to be on his side of the ice for most of their chances. By the way, I don't expect Lappy to be shifting out on the Gaborik line a lot. Guite can keep up but Lappy and Cody will have trouble. I think you'll see Sakics line out with the Gabby line a lot more often because of last changes, and the fact that if you try to match up the Guite line on every shift it will take minutes from your scoring line. That puts a lot of responsability on Sakic and Wolski I think. To me, I don't think Brunette plays a great brand of defense. If he gets too deep in the Avalanche zone he has real trouble getting back in to the offense. His skating limits him in many ways but he's salty enough to do a lot of good things on offense still.

Of course all I did was reiterate one of your points above. Looks like I picked a bad week to quit sniffing glue.

Another key to me: Matching the Wild's physical play. They will, no doubt, try to beat the living spleen out of Forsberg (too late, Norstrom already ruptured it in 2001). Guys like Lappy, McLeod, Guite, Jones, Salei and Foote really need to step it up physically and match the brutality against guys like Gabby and Demitra. I wouldn't mind seeing Burns on his ass several times a game. And for the love of Roy, it really would be nice to see Hannan step up his physical game as well.

DD, I never put it together that you live in Keene until I read Dater say it. I posted this on MHH also. I did forget to add that my Grandparents have started spending their summers at the Pines. Next time I visit there I will have to come talk hockey!
