The NHL has posted the schedule for the 1st round of the playoffs. As rumored, the Avs first game will be this Wednesday at 9 eastern.

| Fri. April 11, 2008 | 9:00 PM | Colorado at Minnesota | VERSUS (JIP) | |
| Mon., April 14, 2008 | 10:00 PM | Minnesota at Colorado | VERSUS | |
| Tues., April 15, 2008 | 10:00 PM | Minnesota at Colorado | VERSUS | |
| Thurs., April 17, 2008 | 9:00 PM | Colorado at Minnesota | ||

| Tues., April 22, 2008 | TBD | Colorado at Minnesota | ||
It took me a minute to figure out what “JIP” referred to. If I’m not mistaken, that means “join in progress”. In other words, we get screwed out of a good chunk of the first period (the Capitals are the earlier game at 7). Thanks NHL & Versus! You folks are nothing if not consistent in your apparent quest to piss off your fan base. Why not start the Avs at 9:30 (and even that is cutting it kind of close). Is there some big bull riding competition that night forcing you to compact the schedule like this? Bush league, as usual.
As expected, the teams will play back-to-back games in games 3 and 4, necessary because the Nuggets are home on the 13th and 16th.

The worst part about that is it’s a Friday night, if there was ever a day to start the game at 10:pm that would be the one right?
Instead they wait until the next week on Monday and Tuesday to play 10pm games.
an excellent point.
Hey this is better than two years ago when it was impossible to see an entire playoff series without being in the local market or having center ice (Carolina-Montreal).
I don’t mind so much. If I had the option of watching Avs-Wild or Caps-Philly as an unbiased fan, I’d rather watch Ovechkin and Co. over the Minny Trap any day…
Bump the Nugs to the old Coliseum. They’ll be out of the playoffs by early next week anyway. Man, did they ever blow chunks this weekend or what?
FYI, altitude is broadcasting as well for the versus games: http://altitude.tv/news/newsdetails.aspx?NID=523
as a dish network customer, I’m thrilled — I don’t get versus since I don’t want their top package.
Thanks Doc, I’ll be watching Altitude on DirectTV if possible.
I understand doctor…I’ve been wanting to drop their top package, but I hold onto it just so I can watch those 5-6 games and the playoffs on Versus.
Is this the last year of the Versus contract??? I sure hope so.
Anyone think Forsberg will play on Tuesday 15th????
it’s not the last year of the versus contract, americanario. they’re together til 2011.

still, no one’s precluding a simultaneous return to ESPN either. we’ll see.
DTV doesn’t show many Altitude games for some reason. It seems like most games had both home and away feeds for it this year, but it was rare for the Avs to get such treatment. I hope DTV will pick up that Alt feed for the Friday game.
Off topic, but I’m looking at the playoff matchups right now and my question is this. Who’s shaking in their skates more than Turco right now? He was lauded last year for erasing his playoff demons against Vancouver (yet Dallas still lost). Now we know what we knew back then for certain, Vancouver’s offense is horrible. Now, Dallas trades Smith away to put all their eggs in Turco’s basket. Now Turco is looking at the Ducks in the first round. Thank God we got the Wild to start.
I thought the NHL signed another cable deal a while back?

TSN has times for the last two games. as far as i can tell they are the only ones who have listed the game 6 and 7 times:

my question is, whats with a 1pm game on a Tuesday?
I have a feeling those game 6 and 7 times are just thrown in there.
Hopefully I’ll get to see spme Avs playoff games since Versus is what gets shown over here in Australia. Naturally they’ll play all the Eastern Conference games like they always do. God i hate watching the Rangers and Flyers games.
Nice to see the Pepsi Center was planning for the playoffs.
