One of my odder quirks is that I actually like the Detroit Red Wings (Hasek and Chelios excluded). So, it won’t be too difficult for me to pull for them tonight. For the rest of you? Yeah, it’s going to be odd. Detroit takes on Calgary tonight in Calgary, and, of course, Avalanche fans are hoping for a Detroit win - just this one time.
One added wrinkle is that the Wings are currently in a race with Nashville and Anaheim for 1st overall in the West. If the Avs get in, we’ll probably face one of those three. I think a lot of people would prefer to play Detroit, but I’m pulling for Nashville for a couple of reasons. Of the three, Nashville is the team we match up the best against. And, of course, there’s the Forsberg factor - I think it would be fun to play him in the first round.
Colorado is idle tonight. Tomorrow they face the Oilers in Edmonton. The Oilers are in freefall mode, having lost 11 straight. Maybe they should have just ponied up the extra 100 grand to keep Ryan Smyth…

Tonight will be hell.
Well hell would be BEING a Red Wings fan for life. This is like taking a tour there.
I personally dont see much of a problem rooting for the wings. I’d rather them beat the Flames and us get in the playoffs than Calgary win.
Of course, this year is going to be very different. Most of the past years we’ve just coasted into the post season, this year, we’ve had to fight for our lives. Lets see if that makes a difference.
Odd, I dread the thought of playing Foppa in the playoffs. It would just be too weird. And depressing. I want to see the Wings, because it would help rekindle the rivalry. Especially when Parker takes down Bertuzzi.
My empathy for Detroit is under moritorium until the departure of Draper. I can not stand that smack talking/fake glove dropping/a-hole.
