Turn Back the Clock Week continues in Denver, as the Avalanche have re-acquired Adam Foote. That’s two guys we lost after the lockout ended coming back to the Avs. Can Chris Gratton be far behind?
TSN is reporting that the Avs give up a conditional first round pick in either 2008 or 2009 as well as a 4th rounder. And yes, that’s way too much to give up.
From the Avs press release:
In exchange for his services, the Avalanche gives up the rights to a conditional first-round draft choice in 2008 or 2009 and a conditional fourth-round choice in 2009.
I believe the 4th round pick would be on a condition of Foote re-signing with us this summer.
With Skrastins gone and Jeff Finger I believe still in Denver with an injury, the Avs are down to 5 healthy defensemen tonight. Both Columbus and Florida have a home game next, so Foote should be in Columbus and Salei is in Miami right now. Can either make it to Calgary for the game tonight? Lake Erie is home next as well, so all those guys should be in Cleveland in case of a call-up today.

I geuss I’m happy. What did we give?
Don’t you EVEN put Gratton in the same breath as Adam Foote. Foote coming back is just flat out awsome.
ZOMG! We have the Foote and Finger line to make fun of now.
Apparently Blake is only willing to waive his NTC for Colorado. The question is, it worth resigning any of the guys at their age in the offseason?
sounds like a 1st rounder. could it be we acquire Foote, Forsberg and Salei without giving up a player? (Skrastins notwithstanding, of course)
we had better move liles.
Did I ust hear that we gave up a 1st rounder in either this or the next draft, PLUS a conditional pick next year!?! Am I the only one thinking we are giving up waaaay to much for Footer?
Please….Liles and Theo for Turco (One can dram, right?)
We did give up waaaay too much for Footer
I would have said Turco could be in play, but now that Smith has been traded, I think that dream is over.
I can’t believe that we can’t get something for Liles. I thought Liles for Campbell (with picks similiar to what happened in the real world with Campbell) would have been a slam dunk for both teams.
As much as I think deep down that Richards is over-rated, he WILL add scoring to the Stars. I think Tampa still ‘won’ that trade though. Smith may finally solve thier goaltender issues, assuming Torts keeps his job.
And, announcing the starting goaltender for the 2008-2009 Washington Capitals, Crissy Huet!!
Liles has got to be gone. I can’t believe we couldn’t have included him in the deal with columbus and not give up a first rounder, and maybe get a pick from them?
Foote
Hannan
Leopold
Finger
Liles
Sauer
Salei
7 very capable defensemen, and that assumes Clark is gone for the year. There has to be another move coming…
Man. Footer. I know we overpaid. But Goddamn it feels good to have him back. Boy o Boy have we missed him.
Yeah DD, it feels like Liles would surely get traded for a conditional 1st or 2nd the way the Foote deal went down. I mean, you go in to the offseason with Liles as a UFA and get nothing out of it?
FYI - Foote is on a plane to Calgary.
thanks PH.
long time no see!
We only overpaid for Foote if he doesn’t resign with the team, AND we don’t make the playoffs in my opinion.
If he resigns, and every indication is that he’ll either resign here or in Columbus. And FYI: I didn’t want Blake, as he seemed the most likely to win the Doug Weight award for player who resigns with the team that traded him away
If Foote resigns and finishes his career with us. I will be okay with giving up a first rounder. Yes, we MIGHT have been able to sign him for free in the summer, but he might be just what we need to make the playoffs this year.
