To the shock of absolutely no one who has followed the team this year, Jose Theodore’s minor-sounding back spasms are a little more troublesome than first reported. Theo did not make the trip to Detroit, meaning Peter Budaj will get an immediate chance to jump back onto the horse that bucked him last night.
Tyler Weiman has been recalled to back up Budaj.

is it just a sign of Cumiskey’s lower popularity factor that we really haven’t heard anything about his injury? I know the Avs always go all Eastern-Bloc on us with this stuff anyway, but it seems like Cumiskey’s groin has been even more under the radar than all the S-name injuries on the team.
I don’t know if the lack of the Speed Demon’s (yes, I’m trying out a nickname) injury news was a popularity contest casualty insomuch as a it was just that, with the Super S’s hurt, and the team’s ‘no media’ policy for injured players, there wasn’t anything to report.
Other than a worse prognosis, but maybe management figures that all the fans expect a ‘lower body injury’ to magically transform into a amputation at this point…

This team, healthy, with JoeTed could possibly contend for the Cup. This team, healthy, with Budaj should be a playoff team and might win a round.
This team, healthy, with Weiman misses the playoffs worse than last year.
Weiman is completely useless. He’s our second or third best AHL goalie. Waste of space.
