I haven’t seen this listed officially anywhere, but according to this post at the HF Boards, Johnny Boychuk has been recalled. It’s a tad curious, as it leaves the team with 8 defensemen and 13 forwards. One of those forwards is Cody McCormick, who missed the last game due to injury. Another is Scott Parker, who might as well have an “in case of emergency, please break glass” tattoo.
I guess it’s conceivable that Boychuk would play forward (am I imagining that he did that in the preseason?). In lieu of that, this seems an awful lot like there’s an as-of-yet undisclosed injury to a defenseman. I’d suggest there’s a trade in the works, but that doesn’t seem very likely with our current tortoise regime.

Anxious to see this kid. Big body and good, powerful shot I have heard.Maybe he could help on the powerplay?
James, I hope so but Boychuk has been a project forever. He’s also been cut early in training camp forever. What I’ve seen from him in past years is the tendancy to puck watch and lose his postion/man. His inability to skate at a high level and going for big hits and get him out of position. Hopefully he’s improved on all those things. It’s just a wierd call up no matter how you look at it. The biggest thing to me with the game at the Islanders is that Theo is in net. It’s back to a goalie rotation.
Thanks Dario. I hope he has matured. And Théo in net? I want to cry.
