While it doesn't sound like THAT bad of a night for Theo, my opinion of the netminders in Colorado hasn't changed.

Boots gives up the occasional soft goal. Theo rarely DOESN'T give up at least one a game. Plus, Theo has the rare ability to ONLY give up soft goals in a game.

I understand what you are saying about Theo, and totally agree. It's a rather typical game for him - look great for most of the night, but then look like he's wearing pads made of lead for a couple and that's the game.

I'm actually more upset about the Bernier goal, which I thought should have been easy, but the point is the same. The easy goals that go in are the ones that deflate teams.

This is why I'm such an advocate for Budaj. He's not going to win as many games on his own...but he's not going to lose them on his own either.

Theo played decent and made some good saves but it's those brain lapses he has when he has time to think about a save. Breakaways he saves b/c it's quick and he reacts without thinking. Slower goals, i.e. the lobber from Grier, he misplays. Sure, it took a funny bounce but that was a pretty slow moving puck.

It sounds kind of stupid/obvious to say but...take away those goals against and he had a good night. The quality of those goals though makes it sub-par outing in my mind.

He could have let in 5 but if they were unstoppable I would have been happier with his play.
