Great game! Guite, Finger and Hannan were all unsung heroes with some good plays and big hits. Finger took on almost the whole Dallas team himself. He laid a big hit on Morrow, despite the penalty.
I was very happy with Liles play. In the First period he canceled out a power play after Forsberg got roughed up a bit but this is what we needed someone to do. He let the Stars know we were not going to let them go after guys like Forsberg and Sakic. Something no one did after the Ducks took hits on Forsberg and the Nucks laid out Sakic. On the reverse side Dallas didn’t get on us after Finger drop morrow and Sauer dropped Modano. Liles also lined up Hagman in our zone while we were on the power play in the third. When we can out hit the Stars 33-18 and still score 3 goals; well it just shows which team wanted this game more.
Theo got luck late in the third, but other than that one mistake he was excellent once again and gave his team a chance to go get those 3 goals in the third.
Power play looked much better, but was burned by Turco. That is until the Brunette goal. The power play that followed was right back to its ugly self.
Hope we come out again with that kind of energy tomorrow. Dallas is going to have some sore players. Finger and Co. need to put 30+ hits on them tomorrow.
with the Liles and Finger mentions you’re stealing a bit of my recap thunder! Both those guys impressed the hell out of me. Darryl Raugh thought the Liles roughing penalty was a boneheaded play, but I thought it was a terrific penalty.
