While we played pretty well, I’m having a hard time getting too terribly excited about this win. chicago was awful more than we were good.

Budaj’s play was very concerning. I’m confident he’ll pick it back, IF he’s given playing time. I doubt he’ll be given that though. *sigh* If Theodore is hurt long term, who gets the call, Weiman or Cash?

Americanario, I agree that Budaj didn’t have much help on either of those goals. But he normally makes those saves. It really sickens me to think that those goals are evidence that his confidence is shot. And if it wasn’t shot before, it probably will be now.

Hlinka out-muscles a Chicago player off the puck…

I’m pretty sure this is the first time all season Hlinka has out-muscled anybody off of anything. Too bad his line couldn’t score. He still played well, and I think the McCodys are a good match with him. McLeod can score goals and both of them can throw down, something Hlinka can not do at all. A good diverse line, for sure.

Rely this was a slow game. Avs managed 30 shots and neither goalie was tested…yet we gave up 3. I too was hoping the Mclinka line would score. They gave the Hawks hell all night and had a couple of chances. The Cody’s continue to play well together. Hopefully we can carry some of this offensive momentum into the Joe on Friday.

Now I have to give Budaj just a little support… on that first goal by Perreault. That play happened so quickly. The Avs had taken the foot of the gas at this point and they got lazy carrying the puck out. How does Perreault steal the puck from the Defense like that (was it Hannan or Leo)? Budaj is probably still saying “WTF!” The second goal. I shake my head, how does that go in? Liles…you aren’t a basket ball player, quit trying to “jump ball” the puck. Follow it and knock Perreault on his ass the minute it hits his stick. Still Budaj should have had that one. But the guy hasn’t played in a month…hopefully he gets another chance soon and last night shook the rust off. He should get at least on of the starts this weekend, but with Q who knows.

thanks - it’s having trouble with the February date for the next game as well. I’ll see if I can figure that out today.

We’ll start positive, since this game was like that awesome party you stay at just a little too long, and then the frat boy is puking in the punch and the police are showing up because of disturbing the peace. (Is that a stretch for an analogy, who cares)

After Bruno’s PP goal the PP actually looked really really good. I know they didn’t score with the last 2 chances, but they looked excellent. It’d be nice to see that kind of powerplay more than once a month though.

Man all three goals tonight given up were pretty weak. Budaj’s were definitely weaker than Theos, and let’s not let Brett Clark off the hook for that first goal. He did some sort of dancing shot block sort of thing that I can only describe as “fugly”.

Ouch. Budaj 2-4. Now don’t get me wrong, I love Budaj. My girlfriend and I just named our new pet after him. But I gotta say, I felt horrible when he replaced Theodore. Theo has finally earned my confidence (before Budaj’s horrible third period), and I want to see him in between the pipes consistently now.
