I just want to say that I like watching Sakic skate. You got me there. That and winning Con Smythe trophies. It's a toss up as to which fuels my obsession. The 9th best scoring forward in the history of the game who established a bulk of his numbers in the dead puck era is really a joy to watch underachieve. But that's just me.

Lalime has played well recently, and I never said anything different. He’s still a shit goalie though. There’s a reason why he gets passed around like a joint at a Grateful Dead concert.

I'm sorry, I thought it was YOU who said the Avs should be able to score more than one goal on the 'Hawks and 'freaking Lalime.' Maybe I was wrong, let me check....nope, it was you. You sounded an awful lot like someone who disregarded Lalime's recent stellar play when it didn't fit your argument that the Avs offense was broken. However, on the same token, you embrace Theo's recent turnaround as proof-posative that he's regained his form and all the 'bashers' should be eating crow, when his history in the past 3+ seasons suggests that this is temporary and he'll implode. However, that wouldn't fit YOUR argument. It just seems like a bit of a double-standard, that's all.

You have absolutely no room to call someone else a retard, btw. You are easily the dumbest so-called Avalanche fan I have ever come across, and I’ve been on usenet, fanhome, hfboards and the official Avs site for over a decade. You’re the dumbest. Of all of them.

Then you're not looking hard enough

I called them douches because I don’t like star players. They are a necessary “evil,” but I don’t like them. That pretty much sums it up. We all have players and/or types of players we don’t like.

Fair enough. Though I don't understand how you can have a vested interest in the team and not enjoy the 'star players' on that team. That sounds a tad odd to me.

Here's a follow-up query: You don't like Sakic and Smyth because of work-ethic and productivity, respectively. How do you feel about guys that do both, but are still marquee players? First to my mind is Ovechkin. He works his ass off, is insanely productive, but is arguably the second or third biggest star in the NHL and certianly the bread and butter of his team. Do you hate him cuz he's the 'star' or do you disregard it because he's a productive player? I ask becuase I think you've painted yourself into somewhat of a corner with your opinion of the three S's on the Avs and have to grasp straws for reason to hate on at least a couple of them.

So other than showing that Thomas may know what he’s talking about regarding Theo, it also shows that he wasn’t correct in his Lalime bashing in the Chicago post-game notes.

Lalime has played well recently, and I never said anything different. He's still a shit goalie though. There's a reason why he gets passed around like a joint at a Grateful Dead concert.

I’m well versed in Thomas’ opinion of Sakic, but I question why Smyth and Stastny are ‘douches.’

I don't like star players. I don't like Sakic because he's shown no heart and has allowed our team to underachieve for a decade. I don't like Smyth because I don't like how he's played this year and I can't stand his Canadiac following. I don't mind Stastny at all, but I am a little annoyed at how Avs fans have his cock all the way down their throats.

I called them douches because I don't like star players. They are a necessary "evil," but I don't like them. That pretty much sums it up. We all have players and/or types of players we don't like.

Considering the Avs were 13-10-1 BEFORE Sakic went down it’s a pretty stupid statement to say that Sakic being out is what’s helping the Avs win.

It’s borderline legally retarded to say that Sakic Stastny and Smyth being out is why the Avs are playing well, especially since Stastny’s been out a whopping 2 games (and the Avs had won 3 straight before he went out, not that it matters because again 3 games is a small sample size.)

Wow, great tantrum.

Now, go back and point out where I said we're winning because the three douches are out. I'll wait here.

Didn't think so, moron.

I said they are a different team, and they are. They aren't sitting there waiting for one of the three douches to score their goals. They are actually WORKING for a change.

I said their style is better, and it is. I'm sorry, maybe you like just watching Sakic skate or whatever, but I'm much happier watching my team work hard and put forth effort than watching a bunch of lazy asses. The Avs not having their three best players has forced them to play a different style, and that style is much better than the previous one was.

No exaggeration.

I love this Tollefson clown. After a whistle he goes towards the smallest guy on the ice (Svatos) and starts pushing him. Fucking coward. This is the same loser who waited until Parker was off the ice in the Westcott game before acting all tough against guys like Hlinka.

He's just emulating his hero, Dion Phaenuf.

Owies? You make it sound like they are being pussies. Broken Ankle, Hernia Surgery and Appendicitis are pretty serious conditions. Leave it to you to call three of the classiest most respected players in the NHL douches.

And FYI: The Avs without Sakic: 13-8-2
The Avs without Sakic and Smyth: 5-3-2
The Avs without §'s": 1-0-1

Please remember: Small Sample Size. The only one who's been out long enough to draw any possible conclusions is Sakic, and even then the record, compared to the team record and team record before the went down, fall well within the statistical probability. It's not like he went down and they were 20-3-1. Also since it's likely Sakic was playing at less than 100% before he was out, it's really hard to draw any conclusions (not that that has stopped you). Considering the Avs were 13-10-1 BEFORE Sakic went down it's a pretty stupid statement to say that Sakic being out is what's helping the Avs win.

It's not since 2008, but Thomas is correct that Theo has good numbers recently. According to my Yahoo! fantasy leage stats machine, in the last 30 days the top SV% goalies are:

Dany Sabourin (Pit - G) 1.000 SV% 1 win
Ty Conklin (Pit - G) .957 SV% 9 wins
Antero Niittymaki (Phi - G) .948 SV% 6 wins
Craig Anderson (Fla - G) .948 SV% 2 wins
Martin Brodeur (NJ - G) .945 SV% 8 wins
Jose Theodore (Col - G) .938 SV% 5 wins
Chris Mason (Nsh - G) .933 SV% 5 wins
Dominik Hasek (Det - G) .932 SV% 6 wins
Jonas Hiller (Anh - G) .929 SV% 2 wins
Jean-Sebastien Giguere (Anh - G) .927 SV% 8 wins
Patrick Lalime (Chi - G) .925 SV% 4 wins
Pascal Leclaire .925 SV% 7 wins

I parsed out Curtis McElhinney (Cgy - G) and Jaroslav Halak (Mon - G) since they had appearances in relief but no starts or wins.

So other than showing that Thomas may know what he's talking about regarding Theo, it also shows that he wasn't correct in his Lalime bashing in the Chicago post-game notes. He's played well of late, but hasn't gotten the goal support that Theo has at times.

Part of me still finds it suspect that Theo is playing well in a contract year, with the Avs in full lock-down mode due to the absence of the 'douches' who provide most of the offense. I personally believe that Boots could be doing as well, but I'm all for the consistency in net that has come out as a result of Theo's play. I'm still convinced he'll have a meltdown and I still don't want to see him wearing an Avs jersey next year unless he's on the hook for a one-year contract in the $1-2 mil range, but I'll take what he's giving right now.

I'm well versed in Thomas' opinion of Sakic, but I question why Smyth and Stastny are 'douches.' That befuddles a little mind such as mine own. Perhaps Thomas could shed some wisdon on that to us all.

18:50 Dario will be pleased to know that Finger was out there on the 1st unit PP (with Liles).

He was pleased.

Not so pleased with Arnason at the point on the 4 v 3 PP, but that's a minor offense.

I'm ticked pink to see Jones back in the lineup. I can't recall Thomas proclaiming Jone's NHL capabilities during the draft. He was a very unknown quantity that year because he only played half a season with an injury. What we did know is that the same scouting staff that drafted Hemingway must have saw something in Jones to take him in the 8th that year. The very next season he exploded for the Express and went on become the teams "unsung hero" and the next year to be their MVP. He's an exceptional skater for someone his size, with very good hands. He's going to be really fun to watch.

The most remarkable thing last night has to be Svatos. He got his 3rd assist to go with his 20 goals, certainly a rare occasion.

Oh Theo, what glorious goaltending and hair to match. He's been very good, there is no doubt. He made a spectacular save on Nash last night, one of the best all year. The defense has looked much better in front of Theo and Theo has done a really good job on making that first save with his always solid rebound control. I'm still holding my breath with Theo but I do think he's turned some sort of corner as this is the best hockey he's played since Montreal. The team in front of Theo has really changed. I can't remember a game recently where the Avs haven't looked energetic (thank you Lake Erie). Unlike some games earlier in the year Theo hasn't had to win games single-handedly or "steal" hockey games. Nor should he, if the team in front of him is playing like they should. I'm happy for Theo and the team as a whole. I hope Theo can keep it up because if Q goes back to the well I don't know how Budaj could have any confidence to take back a starting role.

I’m ticked pink to see Jones back in the lineup. I can’t recall Thomas proclaiming Jone’s NHL capabilities during the draft. He was a very unknown quantity that year because he only played half a season with an injury. What we did know is that the same scouting staff that drafted Hemingway must have saw something in Jones to take him in the 8th that year. The very next season he exploded for the Express and went on become the teams “unsung hero” and the next year to be their MVP. He’s an exceptional skater for someone his size, with very good hands. He’s going to be really fun to watch.

The most remarkable thing last night has to be Svatos. He got his 3rd assist to go with his 20 goals, certainly a rare occasion.

Oh Theo, what glorious goaltending and hair to match. He’s been very good, there is no doubt. He made a spectacular save on Nash last night, one of the best all year. The defense has looked much better in front of Theo and Theo has done a really good job on making that first save with his always solid rebound control. I’m still holding my breath with Theo but I do think he’s turned some sort of corner as this is the best hockey he’s played since Montreal. The team in front of Theo has really changed. I can’t remember a game recently where the Avs haven’t looked energetic (thank you Lake Erie). Unlike some games earlier in the year Theo hasn’t had to win games single-handedly or “steal” hockey games. Nor should he, if the team in front of him is playing like they should. I’m happy for Theo and the team as a whole. I hope Theo can keep it up because if Q goes back to the well I don’t know how Budaj could have any confidence to take back a starting role.

Another excellent game for JoeTed. The bashers are finally starting to back off. I haven't seen the numbers, but I am going to go ahead and assume that he leads the NHL in sv% in 2008.

Nice to see Jones get his name on the scoresheet. I caught a lot of shit for saying he'd make the NHL the day he was drafted. Caught shit for years. Heh. I was right.

In other news, Clark still blows goat cock.

I have laid off Quenneville lately because we've seen the Avs play like a completely different team lately. And that's because they ARE a completely different team without their top three players. But I am not letting him off the hook completely until the three douches come back from their owies and Idiot keeps the team playing this brand of hockey. If he goes back to the same shit we were doing before the three douches went down, he's still a complete imbecile and needs to be canned.

In other words, I am really hoping this is him learning his lesson, and not just playing the style he feels works best with the depleted roster. Because this style is a hell of a lot better than the bullshit he was running out there with everyone healthy.

If the team played defense like this when the three douches were healthy, we'd be right up there with Detroit right now.

Finger, Guite, and Arnason all scored their 4th goals of the season tonight...what are the odds?
Congrats to David Jones who got his first NHL point/assist on the Guite goal.

Avs on top of the Division again...what a wild ride it has been since Christmas. We are down 160 man-games or so, without our top three scorers and three of our d-men. Our roster is filled with "monsters" and yet we are in 1st place (at least for 24 hours).
