Don't worry Thomas, Theo will keep getting starts from Q as long as the offense bails Theo out or Theo stands on his head for a loss. If you're going to flip flop goaltenders, you'd think you would do it after a poor performance. But that's not how Q works, if you score 5 goals to their 4 then you get another start. Fine by me, but if Theo plays extremely well and they lose 3 to 1, then he should start again. Unfortunately for us all, that's not how the Q formula works. I'm part of the circle jerk clan and am totally on board with DD. Theo has been poor the last two games. However, I can live with it if Q picks a starting goaltender. I think Theo will burn this team rather soon. I think Q will go back to Budaj and I think Budaj will have to play perfect hockey essentially. In fact, this year is shaping up a lot like last year. If Budaj gets the job back and runs off another 10 out of 12 possible points no one will be all that surprised because he's done it before. Once again, at the end of the year we will all be able to say, "Man, if only we could have done that all year we wouldn't be struggling to make the playoffs". This year could be a big time broken record (but with way more talent).

JoeTed was very good last night. The only goal that was even remotely his fault was the Stillman goal, which was a screened slapshot from the top of the circle about a foot high stick-side.

No the first goal by Cole could be the softest goal of all time. Granted Liles let him walk in all alone, but that goal easily qualifies as Theo's fault. The Stillman slap shot was kinda weak.

And 2 of the goals in the Florida game were weak too.

I watched the first period of the 'Canes game and watched Theo flop around on the soft backhand goal by Cole after the HORRIBLE poke-check by Liles at his own blue-line. I know Cole has missed a ton of time over the last few years due to some horrible injuries, but when he's in the lineup he has some pretty impressive skillz, not the least of which is speed. Liles should have recognized that and played the puck better. Still, Theo coasted to the far post, didn't butterfly so much as just hoped the puck would hit him, and then revved his engine just like Wile E. Coyote running in place as the puck, moving at a speed emulating a glacier, slid across the goalline. And that is when I quit watching.

As for David Booth...the Panthers are really high on this kid, who has some definate scoring punch. I picked him up for my fantasy squad a few weeks back and he's been a decent addition. He's 23, a second round pick and is well on his way to a 20+ goal season for a horrible team. He's +6 for the Panthers for crying out loud. Can't be horrible. He's had some wrist injuries this season (I believe) that have cost him some games (only played in 37). Ohh, and he shoots ALOT. 95 shots in 37 games isn't Ovechkin territory, but that's some quality #'s for a second line winger.

And yes, Thomas, Selanne is correct. I did watch both games this weekend. And you're right too: I do have a huge bias against Jose Theodore. When Theodore plays well, I know he's just teasing and will eventually let in some soft goals. He was inconsistent on Saturday and was worse on Sunday; really, we're very lucky he didn't lose it for us - the Panthers missed an open net at least 4 times by my count.

So, just so we're clear in the future: I don't think he's a very good goalie and I'd rather not see him in net. He has had some very good games this year, and, when that happens, I say so. And when he's giving up goals that my grandmother could stop, I'll point that out too. You call it bias, I call it reality. Either way, I'm doing it.

"It looked like he used the shove from the Florida D as a propellant to get to the bench. I’m not sure if it was super lazy or secretly brilliant. But I know which one I’m leaning towards."

"The Panthers obviously don’t have a very good scouting department. If they wanted to win the shootout, they would have just had guys firing slapshots from just inside the blue line."

I can't decide which one of these I found funnier. Both made me LOL this morning.

Uh Thomas, try reading more carefully.

DD said he didn't get a chance to write up a recap of the game, not that he didn't get to watch it. In the overtime section, you'll see where he wrote that he did see the game against the Hurricanes.

So, no lecturing on integrity or thoroughness unless you practice what you preach. k?

I see. So you "didn't get to see the game," but you "weren't thrilled with Theo's performance"?

Biased much?

JoeTed was very good last night. The only goal that was even remotely his fault was the Stillman goal, which was a screened slapshot from the top of the circle about a foot high stick-side. If you'd ever played goal, you'd know that a foot high stick side is the second hardest shot to stop, as your stick hand is very awkward and tougher to lower quickly than to raise quickly. That's why so many goals are scored there in the NHL. Too high to kick save, but too low to stop with your blocker quickly. Add in that he was screened, and that makes things even rougher. It was a hell of a shot.

The other slapshot that scored, Aucoin's, was tipped by Leopold. You really can't fault a goaltender when the defense breaks down and allows a guy in on a rush. You REALLY can't fault a goaltender when the defense breaks down, allows a guy in on a rush AND the defense tips the shot.

You guys are seriously making me defend Jose Theodore. Please. If you didn't see the game, don't make judgments of players. Drop the anti-JoeTed bias. I hate having to defend him.

It's telling that whenever JoeTed gives up a goal, you refer to it as "weak." When Budaj does it, there was "nothing he could do."

Integrity, schmintegrity, eh?
