Career: Managed just 6 NHL GP after playing 45 in 2006 and 44 in 2004.
Report: Didn’t play much…Spent the first 14 games on IR, then was scratched in 7 out of the next 13 games before a demotion to Albany (AHL)…Even when in the lineup, he was used sparingly and on the 4th line only…His high in minutes was just 8:43…6:12 into his first game of the season took a roughing penalty coming to the aid of one of his teammates, which sums him up perfectly.
Fast Fact: Was one of just 2 players without even a token appearance on the PP or PK (George Parros is the other).
Midseason Grade: Inc
Final Grade: Inc
2007-2007 Salary: $450,000
2007-2008 Status: RFA (requires qualifying offer of $544,500*)
Outlook: McCormick got lost in the shuffle a bit this year – there just wasn’t a spot for him on the roster. The Avalanche could certainly use his toughness on the 4th line, but I expect his status on the team next year will depend on what happens with other players this summer. Right now, there are already 8 Avalanche forwards under contract (including RFA Marek Svatos and Ian Laperriere who has a team option). With cap room to spare to acquire players, McCormick could see himself caught in a numbers game again.

I wish we could have seen more McCormick and less Laaksonen, Rycroft and McClean last year.
*shakes fist at that Laaksonen guy*
Yeah, I don’t understand playing Mark Rycroft over McCormick. Rycroft is about the most useless hockey player this side of Anti Laaaaaaksonen.
Hopefully they dump Rycroft and give McCormick a chance. Or maybe give the spot to T.J. Hensick, who just might be ready for the NHL.
I disagree with “dear Lord Stanley”, i think that Rycroft with Guite and Svatos was a really good line during our run. McCormick would just get wasteful penalties, thats why we didnt play him. He hasnt earned. I think if he was standing out in the minors, which he isnt, then he should be here. But keep Rycroft here along with Mclean, goodbye McCormick is my vote!
I VE WATCH MCCORMICK PLAY ALL THREW OUT HIS YOUNGER DAYS . THIS GUY CAN REALLY DO GOOD THINGS IF GIVEN THE CHANCE.HE NEEDS ANOTHER CHANCE .YOU,LL SEE.
