There's a few things that seem to crop up more in games against the Coyotes than any other team. On the shortlist of things we can see in a game against Phoenix: Former Avalanche players will burn us. The refs will do something to hurt us. Nick Boynton will act like a dick. You all know that the Colorado Avalanche are my favorite sports team. A lot of you also know that I have a second favorite team: the New England Patriots. Recap: Avalanche 6, Blues 4 Avalanche Recaps | (5)
On Friday, the Avalanche could barely muster a shot against the Detroit Red Wings, let alone a goal. On Saturday, things went a little better, as Colorado put up six on the Blues to win 6-4 in a wild one. Both of these teams put up strong defensive efforts on Friday; the Avs kept 4 or 5 guys back all night against the Wings, while the Blues shut out the Ducks 1-0. Notes: Game 53, Colorado at St Louis Avalanche Game Notes | (4)
Colorado against the Blues tonight. Both teams played last night; Colorado, of course, lost that tough game to Detroit. Meanwhile, the Blues beat the Ducks and so have some momentum in their favor. They also have Manny Legace, who is 12-1-0 lifetime against the Avalanche. He'll face Peter Budaj. I expect Budaj to ride his small sample size to another fine game tonight. Notes: Game 52, Colorado at Detroit Avalanche Game Notes | (10)
The Avalanche take on the Red Wings at the Joe tonight. FSN feed tonight, Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond. To me, this game boils down to two simple questions. Will Budaj rebound from his long layoff and tough outing on Wednesday? And will the Avalanche offense be able to score against a team that is substantially better than the Blackhawks?
