12.16.0612/15 Colorado 4, Edmonton 1The A-Train just keeps on rollin'. Colorado continued their strong play last night, dropping the Oilers 4-1 for their first 3-game winning streak of the season. Colorado has netted 4 goals or more in their last 5 games, and seem to be clicking on all cylinders. On the scoresheet, the Avs only took 17 shots...but the offense was strong, forcing the Edmonton defense to make numerous turnovers in their own end (last count I saw was 11). In their own end, the Avs defense held the Oilers to just 19 shots, with very few second chances. The powerplay couldn't muster ...

12.14.0612/12 Colorado 4, St Louis 1Who is the guy wearing #87, and what has he done with Pierre Turgeon? After seeing Turgeon play like he was older than Gordie Howe in the playoffs, I couldn't have been more apathetic about about his return 4 games ago. But damn it all, he's looked like an offensive dynamo out there, with 3 goals, 14 shots, and a few "did he really just do that" moves for good measure. The Avs have won 3 of 4 since his return, and put up at least 4 goals in each of the games. I don't believe for a second that ...

Without the Avs top two shooters and having to resort to using Ken Klee at forward, Colorado continued a mini-scoring tear since dropping a doughnut against the Blue Jackets. Colorado has 14 goals in the last 3 games. More importantly, they have 6 powerplay goals; so far, December is shaping up to be - by far - their best month on the PP, scoring a goal every 6.31 minutes on the powerplay (their season average is 9.38). 12.10.0612/9 Los Angeles 5, Colorado 4Nine. Colorado is at 9 1-goal losses in regulation (I count the Chicago last-second empty-netter). Nine games where just one goal would have meant at least a point. Nine points left on the table, with the Avs sitting just three points out of the final playoff spot, and just 6 points away from the division lead. I recognize that this is not the most talented team out there - just making the playoffs would satisfy me. 12.08.0612/08 Colorado 5, San Jose 2This won't be much of a recap. 10:30 start times for the east coast are just a little bit more than my sleep-deprived body can take; I was asleep before the halfway mark of the first period. I did catch one amusing tidbit before trailing off to sweet slumber. The San Jose broadcasters mentioned that - after Liles - the next highest scoring blueliner for Colorado was Patrice Brisebois with 8 points. That, of course, is incorrect. Currently, if you click on the Avs Stats link above (or that underline thing in this sentence), you'll find links tracking ice time, line combinations, penalty kill efficiency and a bit more, with several other categories on the way. For the most part, these are updated the day after each game.

12.07.06Turgeon returnsPart II of the McCormick waivers: Pierre Turgeon was activated today from the IR. Let's hope the extended offseason helps him find the conditioning to contribute on a regular basis, instead of just occasional shifts and games. McCormick cleared and was assigned to the AHL River Rats.

12.06.06McCormick waivedAccording to TSN, Cody McCormick has been waived. I like McCormick, but this move isn't incredibly surprising - he's been a scratch in 7 of 13 games since returning from the IR, and has only been a positive impact in one game (his first, against the Kings). If I had to guess, McCormick will clear and be on his way to Albany soon. Could Antti Laaksonen (1 point in 24 games) be next?
